Draft awaiting legal review. Not yet in force: the marked gaps are filled once the selling company exists.
Terms of sale
What you buy when you buy a title, and on what terms.
Who sells
These terms are between you and [To fill: the seller’s name, legal form, registered address, registration and VAT numbers].
[To fill: who sells at the payment page: the company itself, or Stripe as merchant of record].
You can reach us at [To fill: the contact e-mail address].
What you buy
A title is a collection of short sentences on one subject. Buying one adds it to your One Sentence account, and its sentences then appear on your box. They are read on the box only: the app and this site never show them.
A title belongs to your account rather than to one box, so every box you hold can read it.
For your own account, you can buy a title only if it is on sale in the language of one of your boxes, and not one you already own. A gift is checked when it is used instead (see Gifts).
Price and payment
The price is shown before you pay, in the currency of the country you are connecting from, or in US dollars where we have no price in that currency. The amount on the payment page is the amount you pay. [To fill: whether prices include VAT or sales tax, and who collects it].
Payment is taken by Stripe on its own page. We never see your card details.
On an iPhone outside the United States, titles are bought in the app through Apple, and Apple’s terms govern that payment.
The three-title bundle
On this site you can buy three titles together, for your own account, at the bundle price shown before you pay. A bundle is one order.
Immediate delivery and your right of withdrawal
A title reaches your box as soon as your payment is confirmed.
A consumer in the European Union normally has 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. For digital content supplied at once, that right ends when supply begins, provided you asked for it to begin at once and acknowledged that you would lose the right. The payment page asks for both before you pay, in these words:
- For a title: “The title reaches your box as soon as you pay, and you agree that this ends your right to withdraw from the purchase.”
- For a gift: “The gift code is sent to you as soon as you pay, and you agree that this ends your right to withdraw from the purchase.”
This does not affect your rights if a title does not reach your box or does not work as described. The refund policy covers those.
Gifts
You can buy a title as a gift. A gift adds nothing to your own account: once it is paid, you receive a twelve-character code by e-mail and on your account page.
Whoever enters the code in the One Sentence app, under “Redeem a gift”, receives the title. A code works once, for one account. It cannot be used by someone who already owns the title, or whose box does not read any language the title is on sale in; it then stays unused and can be passed on.
If the payment for a gift is refunded or disputed, its code stops working. If the code was already used, the title is removed from the account that used it.
Refunds and disputes
A refund takes back what the order gave: its titles leave your boxes, and a gift’s code stops working. The refund policy says when we refund.
If you dispute a payment with your bank, the titles of that order are removed.
Your account
Titles belong to the account that bought them. If you delete your account, its titles go with it. We keep a record of each order, no longer linked to your account.
